Nuneaton, a new bridge helps link schools to the town centre

A new walking and cycling bridge was built spanning the West Coast Mainline and linked by parkland paths to primary schools in Whitestone, and to George Elliot Community Secondary School just off National Route 52. Signs advertise this largely traffic free route from the town centre.

Sherwood Forest, the �605 project� vastly improves the life of one of its volunteers

The 605 project was started nearly 4 years ago by a Sustrans Volunteer Ranger, Trish Forster-Nardi. Trish lives on the National Cycle Network near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, and works in a further education college in Mansfield with students with special needs. The 605 Project is named after the local section of the National Cycle Network and extends environmental volunteering opportunities, and all its benefits to people with special needs and disabilities. About 20 young people with special needs volunteer on 2 days each week, with supervision as needed from Trish and other helpers.

Stoke-on-Trent, resurfacing a track results in increased usage

The route in Ford Green used to be a rough un-surfaced track, in 2004 this was resurfaced, extending it to schools in the local area and linking it to the NCN.

Swansea, two new bridges are opened around Blackpill

Near Swansea, two new bridges have opened around Blackpill where the Celtic trail splits branching north east to Swansea and south to The Mumbles and north west to the Clyne Valley. Sustrans conducted surveys in 2001 and 2004 and in the intervening years, a significant amount of promotion was conducted by The Health Authority to advertise the route.
