I read with interest the article in the Shoreham Herald on the 29th March regarding the proposed new foot bridge for Shoreham Harbour.
I was pleased to hear that John Grimshaw (Chief Exec) and MP Tim Loughton cycled around town, but I would urge them both to cycle from the Holmbush Roundabout (Royal George Pub) along the Old Shoreham Road down to the Amsterdam pub.
I think John Grimshaw and all that Sustrans stands for, would be appalled at the condition of this road for cyclists.
Major road works have left an uneven surface along the kerb. There are pot holes, dips and uneven areas where the tarmac has worn out. Even the so called cycle lane outside Buckingham Park, floods on one side of the road when it rains and cars park on the other side when they collect their children from the nursery.
I have reported this stretch of road to West Sussex County Council many times, but nothing seems to be done about it.
I would like to know if any of your other readers feel the same way about the state of this road, as I see a lot of cyclists going to and from work and school every day.
Worthing Council seem to have invested time and money for a cycle lane, please can Adur/WSCC do the same for Shoreham?
