Clydach, Afon Tawe Bridge

Clydach - Communities in this area enjoy some 24km of beautiful path along
the River Tawe and Swansea Canal. It is, however, greatly marred by a section at Clydach where connections into the town are very poor indeed, and a narrow bridge and blocked canals cause a major obstacle for walkers and cyclists. This scheme will make use of an existing abandoned railway bridge over the river in order to create a focus for a number of new paths in the area.

Clydach - Mae cymunedau yn yrardal hon yn mwynhau tua 24 cilomedr olwybr hardd ar hyd Afon Tawe a ChamlasAbertawe. Y mae fodd bynnag wedi eidifwyno'n fawr gan adran yng Nghlydachlle mae'r cysylltiadau i'r dref yn wael iawn,ac mae pont gul a chamlesi wedi eublocio yn achosi rhwystr mawr i gerddwyra beicwyr. Bydd y cynllun hwn yn gwneud defnydd o bont reilffordd segur dros yrafon er mwyn creu canolbwynt ar gyfer nifer o lwybrau newydd yn yr ardal.

How will the local community benefit?

"NCN 43 is not only an attractive (if disjointed) ride, but it has great potential as an important commuter route, especially given the congested nature of the Tawe valley. Any improvements would be a real boost to cycling in the area."

"This is a great honour; I love the thought of becoming part of the landscape alongside Dick Wagstaff and the great Richard Burton. I'm hoping that my sculpture might be able to persuade Burton's sculpture to quote some poetry of an evening, or at least a bit of War of the Worlds." Rob Brydon
